Broad Winged Damsel Fly Print One

This particular damsel fly was photographed by a pond on a farm near where I live, but you will find them anywhere there is water. It was sitting at the side of the pond on a plant hanging over the water edge and flew out hunting for smaller flying insects, returning with its catch it to the plant to devour its meal. They have lovely metallic bodies green or blue, the males have either very dark wings of the same colour as their bodies, with a broad black band on the wing or no bands. The female has brown wings with no markings at all.
