Dartford Warbler

Dartford Warbler

A particularly difficult bird to see as it loves the open heathlands with heather where they live and nest. They will sit on top of the heather and then make a short upwards flight then slowly descend to the heather with a sweet melody to attract a female to the nesting site. From a distance, this bird is not as colourful as when you are close up and it blends in very well in the heather although it has striking colours in its plumage.

Latin

Sylvia undata (Sylviidae)
