Waxwings

A migrant of Scandinavian origin that visits our country when the food in their part of Europe is either depleted or the berry growth has failed that year. They feed mostly on berries from trees and bushes but also insects when needed. This bird has a particularly rich variation of colours but gets its name from the wax-coloured markings on its wings; they are amazing birds to see!

Latin

Bombucilla garrulous
